The two groups announced today that they will host the "Red Friday Pep Rally" September 8 from 5-to-10 p.m. in Westport. Chiefs players will kick-off the free rally, followed by live entertainment, food, vendors and fun.

KANSAS CITY, MO. - Kansas City Chiefs fans will have one more reason to celebrate this year thanks to the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation and the Chiefs Red Coaters.

The two groups announced today that they will host the "Red Friday Pep Rally" September 8 from 5-to-10 p.m. in Westport. Chiefs players will kick-off the free rally, followed by live entertainment, food, vendors and fun.

Kevin Wicker, Sports Commission Director of Local Special Events & Sales, said they were excited about the opportunity to manage the rally for the Chiefs and return it to fans this year. "We feel it is an important community event to bring to Chiefs fans to celebrate the beginning of the season. We will also be rolling out a new marketing campaign to attract sponsorships and more attendees," said Wicker.

Ken Blume, Chiefs Director of Development, said they are looking forward to working with Sport KC and added a plug for families looking for a great event to attend. "There will be a lot of family-friendly activities at the rally, in addition to the Westport Art Fair, which will be going on that weekend."

Jennifer Brandt, Westport Community Improvement District Executive Director, reiterated her enthusiasm about having both the art fair and the pep rally in Westport this year. "We are thrilled to host Chiefs fans and the Westport Art Fair patrons simultaneously. Due to the fact that Westport is a destination-attraction, guests will have a wide-range of food, entertainment and shopping options while they are here. Parking will be available in all of our parking garages and surface parking lots, so there is plenty of room for everyone."
