I just wanted to comment regarding the Kansas City Earnings Tax. When an employer continued to take the tax out of the paycheck regardless of the fact they were notified continually that the tax should not be taken out, why should a person have to wait as of this date 6/6/11 and STILL not have the refund of the money?
Upon calling I was told they have no staff and to expect over 16 weeks before seeing the refund. When I asked if I was to be paid interest on the funds, I was told they do not have enough staff. When I explained that I would be charged interest if I owed taxes, and that I should receive interest as well, I was given a number to call and speak with someone else, which of course was just an answering machine.
Has anyone else had similar experiences, and can they really keep your money and not pay interest?
