Liberty Utility Scammers

ALERT!!  Scammers hitting utility customers...

A Liberty utility customer reported receiving a call in which the caller, posing as an employee with the city water department, asks for personal financial information.

The caller indicated the City had received a returned check because it was unsigned. The caller asked the customer to provide a credit card number to facilitate payment of the bill.

The City of Liberty does not seek credit card or other personal financial information over the phone.

Anyone receiving such a call should call the Police Department at 439-4701.
