MGE Asks I-35 Customers To Lower Thermostat
Area Covers Liberty To Cameron
POSTED: 9:53 pm CST January 7, 2010
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Missouri Gas Energy is requesting help from customers along the Interstate 35 corridor to reduce natural gas use.
MGE said customers should be aware of their thermostat settings during the early-morning hours on Friday and Saturday.
The affected area includes Liberty, Mosby, Excelsior Springs, Prathersville, Kearney, Lawson, Holt, Cameron, Wood Heights, Osborn, Stewartsville, Lathrop and Turney.

The frigid weather is straining natural gas delivery to those areas.
MGE is asking customers to voluntarily lower their thermostats from their typical settings from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.
"While rare, under extreme temperatures like those forecast, simultaneous customer furnace demand can result in insufficient operating pressure that could disrupt gas service to customers in the area," MGE's Pam Levetzow said in a news release.
