Liberty Fall Cean-Up and Household Hazardous Wate Collection

Fall Clean-up October 27-31

LIBERTY, Mo. - During the week of October 27-31, you can get rid of excess trash, furniture, minor maintenance materials and carpet during the City of Liberty's annual fall clean-up.

The items must be placed at the curb or roadway on your regular trash day. Each item, with the exception of large pieces of furniture, must not exceed 45 pounds or be longer than 4 feet. All items must be securely tied, bagged or bundled.

The following items will not be accepted and should not be placed at the curb for pickup:

- tires,

- hazardous waste (including paint, insecticides, chemicals or batteries)

- appliances,

- refuse from remodeling,

- roofing or major repairs,

- yard waste, or

- concrete, rock and rubble.

Tree Limb Disposal Area

In addition to the curbside pickup, the City will also open the tree limb disposal area for citizens with proof of Liberty residency. The site will be open to Liberty residents during the designated times only. Liberty residents must provide proof of residency (driver's license, city water bill, etc.). The tree limb disposal area will be open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. October 27-31 and from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. November 1.

The disposal site is located on new 210 Highway, approximately ½ mile east of Highway 291. Residents should watch for signage on the north side of new 210 Highway identifying the site area. Only tree limbs may be brought to the area. Other yard waste will not be accepted. No commercial vehicles will be allowed to access the site.

Other Recycling/Disposal Options

Other options for residents who would like to dispose of yard waste or other materials have other options available.

To enroll in the yard waste program through Allied Waste, please call 816-254-1470.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event October 25

LIBERTY, Mo. - Have you come across some old antifreeze, batteries, oil or paint products as you get ready for Fall Clean-up?  You can dispose of these materials safely and responsibly at Liberty's annual household hazardous waste (HHW) mobile collection event on October 25 in Liberty.

Residents can drop off their antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint products from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Liberty City Hall parking lot at the intersection of Kansas and Missouri streets. Waste will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

This event is for household waste only; business waste will not be accepted.  Mobile collection events are held throughout the Kansas City area in Missouri and are free to residents of participating communities in the Regional HHW Collection Program.

Because Liberty participates in the Regional HHW Collection program, Liberty residents who are unable to take advantage of this local event or have other types of HHW materials can make an appointment at one of two drop-off centers in the metropolitan area. The centers are located at:
City of Kansas City
4700 Deramus
(816) 784-2080

City of Lee's Summit
2101 S.E. Hamblen Road
(816) 969-1805

At the 2007 household hazardous waste event in Liberty, 252 cars from Liberty and eight other  area communities dropped off nearly 27,500 pounds of household hazardous waste.

The mobile collection event kicks off Liberty's Fall Clean-Up Week, which runs October 27-31.

An honest day's work...

In the final analysis there is no solution to man's progress but the day's honest work, the day's honest decisions, the day's generous utterances and the day's good deed.
