Movies, geocaching, pool party and more
Lenexa, Kansas - Lenexa Parks and Recreation is offering a full lineup of boredom-busting spring break activities and events for families and kids of all ages.
Students in the fourth through eighth grades are invited to D.A.R.E. Movie Night on Friday, March 13 for a night of movies, hot dogs and activities including basketball, volleyball and a huge inflatable obstacle course. The Surf's Up pool party and open gym on Wednesday, March 18 at the new Matt Ross Community Center in downtown Overland Park gives third through eighth grade students a chance to enjoy the pool months before summer begins.
Children ages three to six years old will enjoy hands-on nature experiences at the Young Explorers program on Friday, March 13, and youth ages 10 - 16 will learn how to use a GPS to locate prizes at the Teen Geocaching Treasure Hunt on Wednesday, March 18.
Spring Has Sprung on Friday, March 13 is an opportunity for young artists in first through third grades to express their creativity while celebrating spring and St. Patrick's Day. Piccadilly Puppets will present a daily showing of Peter and the Wolf beginning Monday, March 6; call for show dates, times and admission prices.
If spring cleaning is in your spring break plans, sign up for booth space at the first annual Family Flea Market on Friday, March 20 to sell your outgrown clothing, toys and household items. Admission is free along with free family entertainment. Booth space is $10, which includes a table and chairs. Concessions will be available for sale.
