Funds Raised Support City Union Mission’s Outreach to Kansas City’s Poor and Homeless

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts from across the

Kansas City metropolitan area will hit the road this Sunday morning, May

1st, for the 22nd annual Bikers with a Mission Run for the Homeless

Benefit Ride.  The 100-mile tour raises funds in support of City Union

Mission’s programs and services to assist the city’s hungry,

homeless and near-homeless families and individuals.  To date, the

annual event has raised over $560,000 for the Mission.

Riders register from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Mission’s Men’s Shelter at

1108 E. 10th Street (10th and Troost) and then depart on the tour.

Bikers will return to that location at the conclusion of the ride for

Christian entertainment, food and door prizes.

“It’s such a thrill to see all these riders with their motorcycles

gathered in one place, offering their financial support and heartfelt

encouragement for people in our community who are struggling to

survive,” said City Union Mission Executive Director Daniel J. Doty.

The funds raised are used to help the Mission’s clients with needs

over and above those the organization typically budgets for, such as

utility assistance, bus tokens, medications, baby formula and

eyeglasses.

A custom-made knife-created by Bill Miller of W.M. Knives-will be among

the prizes awarded to riders securing the most cash gifts and pledges.
