Liberty Board of Education selects new Superintendent of Schools

Tuesday evening, the Liberty Board of Education unanimously selected Dr. Phil Wright, current Liberty Assistant Superintendent for Business Operations, as our new Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2007. Dr. Wright will replace Dr. Scott Taveau, who announced his retirement last July. Dr. Wright’s selection ends an extensive six-month national search and sets the stage for a seamless transition to new leadership.

The Board of Education is extremely pleased to have a high caliber administrator and quality person like Dr. Phil Wright already on staff, available for the position. Dr. Wright is a proven leader who has provided outstanding leadership as our Assistant Superintendent for Business Operations. He has also demonstrated superb statewide leadership ability as a past president of the Missouri School Business Officials Association and the current president of the Missouri Public Schools Retirement System Board of Directors.

The board of education would also like to thank current Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Scott Taveau, for his outstanding legacy of achievement and excellence. We believe Dr. Wright will provide both continuity and consistency in leadership as Liberty Public Schools continues to move forward.
