Lenexa to host annual Chili Challenge |
More than 150 teams of chili chefs will gather in Old Town Lenexa on Oct. 17 and 18 to compete in the 22nd annual Lenexa Chili Challenge, presented by 94.9 KCMO.
The Lenexa Chili Challenge is designated as the Midwest Regional Open Championship. The top three winners of the CASI Chili Division will be qualified for entry in the 2009 Terlingua International Chili Competition. Awards also are given for the home style chili division, salsa and hot wings competitions, and people’s choice award.
Friday night, enjoy live music, games, and activities. Admission on Friday is free. On Saturday, bring your appetite and $1 admission (children 12 and under get in free), and you’ll get a spoon and the opportunity to sample the variety of chili recipes and vote for your favorite for the people’s choice award. Children’s activities will be offered, and a DJ will provide entertainment on Saturday. Proceeds from the event benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The event will be held from 5-11 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Old Town Lenexa, Santa Fe Trail Drive and Pflumm Road.
